Boston flats destroyed by fire rebuilt ‘like for like’ and will be ready by Christmas

A set of flats in a Lincolnshire town which were destroyed by a fire have been rebuilt as part of a major redevelopment scheme. In July 2022, the original block of flats at Charlston Terrace in Boston were ravaged by a fire that was caused by a discarded cigarette.

Residents fled the building for safety and some were left with nothing but their mobile phones. Luckily, nobody was harmed as a result of the fire. As the building was left unsafe, it was later demolished and the site was cleared.

Sturton by Stow-based Gelder Group has a 15-strong team working on the new set of flats which are managed by the Haven Village Management Company. The new block has been built in a “like for like” way as part of a £2.1 million redevelopment.

It is hoped that they will be ready by Christmas this year. Site manager Jamie Cocks said: “We are delighted to report that the construction work is on program and we are looking forward to handing over the new block of flats in December.

“The one and two-bedroom homes have been built in a ‘like-for-like’ way, in keeping with the original block, and they will be occupied by the building’s owners and new renters.”
