A busy stretch of the A1 has been closed, and traffic stopped, due to a lorry fire. The fire happened on the northbound carriageway between the A52 at Grantham and the B6326 for Balderton.
National Highways said that the closure will remain in place throughout the afternoon. Trapped trapped is in the process of being turned around.
In a previous update, the East Midlands division for the National Highways agency said: “The A1 in Lincolnshire is now closed northbound between the A52 at Grantham and the B6326 (Balderton) due to a lorry fire. The road is expected to be closed throughout the afternoon due to the nature of the fire.
“Traffic caught within the closure is being turned around.”
Traffic was also stopped on the southbound carriageway but has been released.
